Guadalupe Centers Elementary School (GCES) students are shining bright in the Police Athletic League (PAL)—a program that keeps students engaged, active, and connected! PAL provides a safe, structured environment where students participate in sports, mentorship, and educational activities, giving them the tools and opportunities to grow both on and off the field.

Through PAL, students are developing essential life skills that extend far beyond athletics. They learn sportsmanship, teamwork, communication, grit, determination, and responsibility—not only for their athletic performance, but also for their behavior, schoolwork, and contributions to their community. By following rules, respecting teammates, and collaborating with others, they are building habits and attitudes that will serve them for years to come.

“Our students are more responsible, focused, and committed. They want to keep training, they want to succeed, and they understand the value of their efforts,” said Coach Miguel Fabian.

According to PAL, 82% of its program participants are GCES students; their dedication shines through in every practice and activity. On the field, they demonstrate creativity, strategic thinking, and strong teamwork. Off the field, the lessons they learn—perseverance, accountability, and determination—carry over into their academics and daily lives.

What truly sets these students apart is their attitude. They consistently show up ready to give their best, support one another, and embrace challenges with a positive mindset.

“I am truly blessed to work with these students. They always show up, give their best, and inspire me every day. I tell them they are winners, and the sky’s the limit,” Coach Fabian added.

These words capture the spirit of Guadalupe Centers Charter School students in PAL—driven, hardworking, and full of potential. They’re not only becoming stronger athletes, but also confident, responsible, and motivated young people ready to make a difference in their schools and communities.
