GCCS Food and Nutrition Services
Welcome to the Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) Food and Nutrition Services. Our department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to providing students with nutritious meals at an affordable cost. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
GCCS offers breakfast and lunch at all locations. Skipping breakfast is anything but productive. Research shows that students who eat breakfast daily perform better academically, have increased attendance, and make fewer trips to the school nurse’s office. It’s important to remember, though, that not just any foods will do. Our breakfast is comprised of healthy, nutrient-dense foods that jump-start kids’ energy and help them feel fuller for longer. Similarly, our school lunches contain more fruits, vegetables, whole grain, protein, and dairy products that a typical lunch brought from home. It is no secret that students who eat lunch at school consume fewer calories from fat and substantially fewer calories from added sugars. Snacks are also offered free of charge to all during after school programs. All meals, foods, and beverages sold or served at schools meet or exceed state and federal requirements.
Meal modification application
If your child has allergies and requires a special diet or needs modified meals due to a medical condition, please complete the meal modification application for students requiring special meals. This form is required before we can provide your student with anything other than the standard meal and also before we can omit/eliminate items from their meal. Please note that only a licensed physician or physician’s representative may sign the medical statement.
Our Food and Nutritional Services Department is continuing to improve. We are renewing our commitment to each child’s academic success by ensuring that all students have access to palatable nourishment they need for high performance in the classroom and beyond. Our team has established short and long term goals to improve your meal experience. If you have any questions or would like additional information you can contact us at gesfns@guadalupecenters.org
