Del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre es el Mes de la Herencia Hispana. Una forma en que nuestra comunidad escolar celebra el Mes de la Herencia Hispana es recaudando fondos para Cambio para Cambio, que dura un mes.
Cada año, nos asociamos con el Fondo de Desarrollo Hispano y participamos en su campaña Cambio para Cambio. Si no está familiarizado, Cambio Para Cambio es una recaudación de fondos anual que hacemos en competencia con las escuelas secundarias de la ciudad. ¡Hemos ganado los últimos 5 años seguidos y nos encantaría recuperarlo! ¡¡¡El año pasado recaudamos un total de $38,014.88!!! Todo el dinero recaudado es igualado por HDF y otorgado a los estudiantes de GCHS en forma de becas universitarias.

September 15th - October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. One way our school community celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month is by fundraising for the month-long Cambio para Cambio challenge.
Each year, we partner with the Hispanic Development Fund and participate in their Cambio para Cambio (Change for change) campaign. If you are unfamiliar, Cambio Para Cambio is a yearly fundraiser we do in competition with high schools around the city. We have won the last 5 years in a row, and would love to bring it back! Last year we raised a total of $38,014.88!!! All money raised is matched by HDF and awarded to GCHS students in the form of college scholarships.

Big shout out to the Varsity Boys Soccer team as they compete in the KC Cup this week!
Monday evening was a tough game against Smithville, losing 0-4. But they rebounded nicely on Tuesday and took a convincing win (8-2) over Odessa. Another game tomorrow against Raytown South still to come!

Thank you Latinx Education Collaborative for a great night celebrating new teachers at the Futuro Teacher Event! Our very own, Daniel Garcia-Roman and Angela Fuentes were pinned during this celebration to commence their first year teaching! This is part of a program to bring more Latinx educators in our classrooms.
We are proud to have these two educators as members of our team!

This week students will take the NWEA reading and math assessment. Make sure your student is present and prepare for the exam. Test is mandatory and if a student misses it, they will have to make it up upon their return.
