Alan Cantu

Alan, a sophomore, recently explored the Health Science Pathway and learned more about opportunities in the healthcare field through a hands-on field trip.

One of Alan’s favorite parts of the experience was learning how cancer can be identified in the kidneys and exploring how brain waves can provide information about the brain. He was especially interested in understanding how the brain works and how people respond to different things.

“I found it interesting you can get a lot of information from the tests they give you,” Alan shared.

The experience also connected with Alan’s interest in a future career in health science. He is currently interested in careers such as physiologist or nurse and said the field trip gave him a better understanding of how healthcare professionals learn about each individual’s body.

We’re so proud of our Aztecs for taking the initiative to explore new interests and learn more about the opportunities available to them. Experiences like this give students the chance to step outside the classroom, connect what they are learning to real-world careers, and discover areas they may want to pursue in the future.
