Comunidad, Conexión, Corazón!

Dear GCHS Parent or Guardian,

Welcome to Guadalupe Centers High School for the 2023-2024 school year! Whether you are new to our school or returning, I would like to extend my warmest gratitude for entrusting GCHS with your child's education.

As we gear up for the upcoming school year, it is important to reiterate the foundation that drives our daily purpose at GCHS. Our vision is for students to leave our school system prepared to positively impact their community. As part of this vision, we strive to provide all students with opportunities to explore their college and career interests before graduation. We encourage you to have meaningful conversations with your child as the school year begins to make the most of these opportunities, and ensure your child has the opportunity to pursue our GCHS academy offerings.

Our school day will continue to run from 8:40 am to 3:45 pm. We kindly request your support in helping your child develop healthy sleep habits to ensure they arrive at school on time every day. Students can enter the school starting at 8:15 am, and classes will begin promptly at 8:40 am. Dismissal is scheduled for 3:45 pm daily, and we ask that students boarding buses do so within 5 minutes. Parent pick-ups should occur exclusively on 16th street to ensure a smooth process. Additionally, we offer after-school activities from Monday to Friday, running until 5:20 pm.

In our commitment to school safety, we have made significant updates to our facilities. A motorized gate has been installed in the staff parking lot, ensuring campus closure during school hours. Furthermore, we are in the process of installing vape detectors in restrooms to enhance safety on campus.

We are thrilled to host Family Orientation Nights on August 17th from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm and August 18th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This is a mandatory event for all families. During the orientation, you will meet with your child's advisory teacher, receive their schedule, collect their laptop, and receive important information for the upcoming school year. Your child's advisory teacher will be reaching out with a link to sign up for a 30-minute meeting time slot. Finally, please note that August 21st is the first day of school with 9th graders. This will be an early release (1:39pm) day. We are excited to welcome all students on our first full day on August 22nd.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our front office. We are here to support you and your child throughout the school year.

We look forward to an incredible year at GCHS, where we continue to uphold our values of Comunidad, Conexión, Corazón!

Sincerely,

Mr. Michael Meaney
